About
Dr. Colin Sylvester is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician Registrar dedicated to helping his patients achieve their goals.
Originally from the US, Colin moved to Australia to continue his medical training. His attempt to embrace Aussie culture led him to play amateur footy with the West Coast Tigers. Unfortunately, he didn’t have much luck playing AFL having torn both ACLs during his short-lived career. However, this led to introductions with amazing Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine doctors that sparked his interest in pursuing a medical career in Sports Medicine. These days, Colin keeps active with regular gym sessions, running, swimming, and chasing his son, Elliot.
Colin has previously worked closely with the East Perth and Peel WAFL teams, the WA AFL State Academy, Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, and is the head doctor for the Fremantle Dockers AFLW team. He has provided game and event coverage for a range of sports including rugby, netball, basketball, and endurance events. He has completed a graduate diploma in Sports Medicine and a Masters by Research on neuroplastic changes that occur following ACL surgery.
Colin has an interest in providing in-depth review of acute and chronic sports and musculoskeletal injuries, osteoarthritis, and injection-based therapies. He uses his experience working with elite athletes to provide up to date care to all his patients.
